From Cover Up to Cover Girl
The search for the new face of Murad Acne Complex®

Ever wonder how we find the people you see featured in our ad campaigns, infomercials and catalogs? Megan, our current star, happened to find us at the Irvine Spectrum when we recruiting for our Clear Skin Challenge. After introducing Megan to Acne Complex, she used the products for 4 weeks, got clear, healthy skin and ended up on the cover of our catalogs, website and other marketing pieces.

Well, we might not be recruiting in your city or town, but you could become the new face of Murad Acne Complex. Aside from getting clear, beautiful skin, if chosen, you (and a parent/guardian) could be flown into Los Angeles, be put up for a couple of days at a hotel near our Manhattan Beach offices and enjoy a day or two of photo shoots, filming (and pretty much the star-treatment) on the set of our next infomercial.

Sound too good to be true? We even throw in a lifetime supply of Acne Complex! Seriously!

Another customer, Andrea sent us her pictures after purchasing Acne Complex then photographed and filmed her 4-week progression. We were so astonished by her results that her photographs circulated the office and you could hear the “Wows” and “OMGs” coming from different areas as people opened their emails. We promptly flew Andrea out from Canada and if you’ve seen our infomercial you know her story is a tear-jerker.

Thinking, “Hey, that could be me!”? It very well could be. Here’s how:

Step 1. Purchase Acne Complex
(I know that’s a given, but some things have to be said.)

Step 2. Take a photo of your face before you start using the Acne Complex regimen
Be sure to take off any jewelry or makeup.

Step 3. Take a few pictures of your face
Clearly photograph front, left side and right sides of your face. Be sure to note the date your photo was taken. Have a web cam? Even better! Document your journey and share it with us daily/weekly!

Step 4. Use Acne Complex for 4 weeks
Make sure to read the Acne 101 Guide included with your kit. This will give you some helpful hints on how to get clear. If you still have questions or just need some support, call our Certified Skincare Specialists at 800.365.6872.

Step 5. After your 4th week has ended, take a few more pictures of your face
Remember to remove your makeup and jewelry and clearly photograph front, left side and right sides of your face. Again, note the date your photo was taken.

Step 6. Date your pictures (both before and after) email them to clearskin@murad.com

Someone will contact you if you’re chosen.

“Help! My hands are revealing my age!”

My favorite tip is to massage a small amount of Age-Diffusing Serum into your hands every night before bed. It will instantly increase firmness and bring back the appearance of your youth over time—Bernadette P.

“I’m not sure if my skin spots are from age or from the sun. How should I treat them?”

Age spots and sun spots, called hyperpigmentation, are the result of your body’s natural inflammation response–so the treatment is the same. Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel is formulated with Hydroquinone for fast, gentle fading of unwanted spots and blotches. Just remember: sun exposure can further darken the pigment or encourage spots to stick around even longer—so always use sunscreen—Monica Z.

About Face: Acne and Sugar

For years, popular opinion held that certain foods (French fries, chocolate and pizza among them) caused pimples. In recent years, however, dermatologists have been insisting that diet has little effect on acne–and now the industry is bracing for another about-face. In a recent study in the Archives of Dermatology, research revealed that acne is almost completely absent in countries like Papua New Guinea and Paraguay, where the typical diet is low in sugar.

By contrast, up to 95% of American teenagers suffer from acne. The study indicated that high-glycemic foods like white flour and potatoes, both prevalent in the Western diet, cause a sudden insulin spike…which triggers excess oil production. Fat, it appears, is no longer the bad guy; sugar’s the one to watch.

“I have normal/combination skin, but I also have a lot of pigmentation and am showing signs of aging. What should I do?”

To help repair damage and keep skin protected from daily environmental exposure, it is important to use a Vitamin C treatment during the day to reverse the pigmentation, and a treatment, like T-Zone Pore Refining Gel, at night to defer the signs of aging. Both will contribute to the overall wellness of your skin. The healthier the skin is, the better able it is to cope with the challenges of time, sun and stress—Ronny C.

“Is there anything I can do to help my skin while I travel?”

Many of my customers travel for work and do not realize that an airplane cabin is drier than the Sahara Desert. I recommend keeping your body and skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water on the plane and applying a moisturizer like our Sensitive Skin Soothing Serum Like a “drink of water for your skin,” this gel formula contains super hydrators that hold up to 1,000 times their weight in water. Best of all, it’s great for all skin types—Kristen S.

“Why do I need special products for the eye area—can’t I just use my regular moisturizer?”

Great question. Even if you have normal skin, the skin around your eyes is especially thin, delicate, and sensitive. Topical eye treatments are formulated to be extra gentle, so they don’t cause irritation. In addition, the eye area has few (if any) oil-producing glands, so it requires intense hydration that my not be appropriate for the rest of your face. Our Renewing Eye Cream addresses a number of common concerns, including dryness, puffiness, dark circles and medium to deep wrinkles—Tracee G.
