Aquarium To Aquarium Via Murad
by Stefani Green, Coordinator, Media Relations

Hi! Let me introduce myself, I guess you could call me the Murad PR Princess-In-Training as I am the Media Relations Coordinator and work with Jennifer (aka Murad PR Princess and my boss) in the Corporate Communications/PR Department. My role is to work with our external media audience and facilitate communication with our international partners—it is a super cool, dynamic and constantly evolving job. I love it! Prior to joining Murad, I was in the PR department at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach—another really cool job!

Coming from a non profit Aquarium, I was ‘over the boat’ to learn that Murad sponsored an exhibit at the Roundhouse Aquarium in Manhattan Beach. I was already hyper aware that Murad is an extremely charitable organization (as it has been one of my duties to coordinate donations), but I did not know that they sponsored an exhibit at our local Aquarium! I am a huge fan of marine life and take ocean conservation very seriously—understanding the importance and risks our ocean faces, so this was music to my ears.

After confirming Murad’s annual sponsorship of the Roundhouse Aquarium’s Touch Tank, my boss Jen and I visited the aquarium to take some photos and learn more about our exhibit and what we could do to help support it. I felt right at home among the sting rays, starfish, sharks, and sand dollars (all local Santa Monica Bay species). What can I say? Salt water, filters, and invertebrates have an affect on me! We had the opportunity to watch local school children on a field trip as they touched the animals in the Murad ray tank and learned about the ocean, its inhabitants and how humans affect their ecosystem. Such valuable lessons! This experience made me even prouder to work for Murad, a company that recognizes the importance of supporting non profit organizations that have a positive influence and affect on the world.

Elle names Dr. Murad “Beauty Genius”

Have you checked out your latest issue of Elle? Dr. Murad, the mastermind behind your favorite Murad products, was named “Beauty Genius” for his “holistic approach to cellulite.” Unlike many other cellulite products, Murad’s Cellulite Solution treats cellulite from the inside with essential fatty acids to boost hydration of cells and connective tissue. “What does that mean?,” you ask? Basically, it makes your skin strong to keep fat in its place! So no more lumps and bumps! As Dr. Murad always says, “Cellulite is a skin problem, not a fat problem.”

While flipping through Elle one lazy Sunday morning, a close friend of mine came across this and was so inspired, she’s using Murad’s Cellulite Solution to get bikini-ready for Stagecoach. Soon enough she’ll be line-dancing to Alan Jackson and showing off her super sleek bod!

Insider’s Scoop: Check your inbox for a special offer on Murad’s Cellulite Solution—coming soon!

Wedding Season

It finally happened sometime last year. I entered the adult version of “Bar Mitzvah season” from Junior High School (I grew up in West Los Angeles for those of you who can’t relate to that). Yes, I am getting old. All of my friends are getting married. I’m going to a new wedding every two months, and feel I’ve become somewhat of an expert. By now I’ve experienced all kinds – secular, Catholic, Jewish, Catholic and Jewish, Taiwanese and Jewish, and even a nominally religious ceremony led by a “priest” with a white collar and a mouth like a sailor (Aunt Ida was not amused). The wedding I just went to in New York for my freshman year college roommate Cy was definitely the coolest. As both the bride and groom are atheists, they were free to pick any style ceremony they wanted, and decided to get married in the Quaker tradition. For any of you who don’t know what this entails, I assume it was not dissimilar to Karl Marx’s wedding. This was truly the peoples wedding. There was no authority figure – secular or religious. Their friends read poems and sang songs after which the bride and groom read their own vows to each other and then felt free to kiss without anyone’s permission. No one had to ask them whether or not they “do.” Of course they did. After that they opened the floor up to spontaneous expressions of emotion from anyone in the audience who cared to share. It was quite moving. I know this is not the way a wedding is supposed to happen, but it made more sense to me than any other that I’ve been to. For all of you atheists and agnostics out there who are about to get married and don’t have pushy parents – yeah, both of you - I heartily endorse the Quaker wedding.
